Gender and Representation in the Media

This semester I took reduced academic workload, therefore I had only six subjects, four of them electives. But one of those calls my attention. The subject is called “Gender and Representation in the Media” and the teacher is the amazing Antonella Estévez.

We usually talk about the gender ideology and how it affects our lives, the way we live, how we fell in love, the way we relate, and so one.

We have seen a little about perspective, representation, signification, how we create narratives, and how media creates specific narratives to show us a specific type of men and woman, in a binary way, excluding the difference and regulates all the areas of our lives. It really has blow my mind at the very beginning, then I start to understand and comprehend.

I really like this subject because it has made me question many thigs about the form and the background of the gender ideology, and it has helped me to understand the correct way to communicate with gender perspective. And also made me question the way I'm building my relationships.
